Designer Spotlight - Katie-maree Cole

I recently discovered New Zealand designer Katie-Maree Cole via Frankie Magazine.

What I discovered was a feminine and romantic feel about her clothing line and website. I immediately fell in love with the floral fabrics, vintage inspired pieces and the bright colours of her Autumn/Winter 2011 collection.

I love discovering new designers especially ones from Australia or New Zealand. Hope you enjoy this wonderful fashion find as much as I did.

About Katie-Maree (from her website)

“I just like dressing up really” – Katie-maree

Katie-maree started dancing when she was 3 years old. Introduced to the fantasies explored through her various roles and productions she grew a desire and passion to explore life through the colour and design of costume.

She joined hundreds of years of tradition of exploring the femininity, adventure and romance of fashion in women's day-to-day lives…

“Each day I open my wardrobe and ask myself
“What part do I want to play today?” she says.

Her designs explore the adventure of being a woman, the beauty and the elegance.
Now based in Auckland she gained her Bachelor of Design in the creative hub of Dunedin city
That’s the same inspiring surroundings as designers from NOM*D, twentysevennames, Aduki, and Richard M0ore.

She was selected by Karen Walker as a finalist in the Air New Zealand Inspiring New Zealanders competition where she spent time in KW’s workroom fueling her passion to start her own label with a focus on natural fabrics in feminine designs.

Since starting in 2009 Katie has continued to build on her dream and when she can get her mind off fashion she also loves to cook…….
Fashion and food, certainly two of the great feminine passions.
