Reflecting on what I have learnt

So it has been about 6 months since I began my blog so wanted to create a reflections post of the last 6 months.
This year has been crazy busy and is going sooo fast. So many things have happened but mostly I really feel like I have grown a lot.

I have realised so many things such as the fact that I am not perfect and never will be and I am ok with that. I have realised that spending copious amounts of money on meaningless things just because they are"designer" is unnecessary and that it is sooo much better to buy second-hand.

I have also learnt that my family and friends and more important than all of the money in the world. I have pretty much gone to hell and back over the years to learn these lessons but I believe it is worth it and don't regret anything!

Happy 30th of June everyone!!

Polka Dots

Hi everyone. I cannot believe I am almost at 200 followers! It is amazing that people actually read and like my blog. I appreciate all of my readers and Facebook fans you are all great and definitely help make my day!
It has been approximately 6 months since I started my blog so I will doing a reflection post tomorrow to talk about how the last 6 months has treated me and how much everything has changed.
Well this is what I wore to work today. The dress is a bit short I wore it as a top previously with a maxi skirt. I think it was ok with the flats but worn with heels might of been a bit much.
Well I am happy hump-day (Wednesday) is finally over. It’s all downhill from now till the weekend!

Hope everyone is having a lovely week!

A world of make believe where everything exists

Hi everyone. So the name of my post is based partly on the amazing photography of Elle Photography on Flickr.
Her work is gorgeous and the way she captures light is just amazing. I really hope to be able to take photos this beautiful one day.

The other reason for the post title is due to my crazy obsession with books about Angels, Demons, Vampires and other worldly creatures. I have just finished the 4th book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. The 5th book doesn’t come out till next year! Totally devo I really want it now!

I have now moved on to the 3rd book in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. The first 2 books were fantastic, took a little while to get into though. The book is about an Angel who is in love with a girl who keeps dying and being reincarnated and he keeps having to find her. Just love it hope its as good as the first 2 books!

Playing around with my new 50mm lens!

Ok so I am totally in love with my new lens. Of course there is some downfalls using a prime lens (such as you have to move around to get a really good shot) but the benefits outweigh the pitfalls.
As you can see from these unedited shots (my cat and dog were forced to model for me!) the focus is so much more clear and the depth of field is simply amazing.

I probably won’t use it much for outfit posts as I am too lazy to keep moving the tripod and an 18mm focal length is much, much better for outfit shots.

I am thinking of getting a 22mm lens next. I would love to get the 10-22mm but they are soooo expensive. I just think its funny as I was never into photography before but now would seriously consider it as a career choice it is just so much fun and perfect for a creative person like myself.

I suppose the good thing about studying journalism is that I can combine the two things I love most. That would be my dream job….if only
Hope you like my shots!

Dawn blushed; betrayed her waking sky

Dawn blushed; betrayed her waking sky To gently break another morrow fine.
Night waned – the black receding – highland Reaching for the early morning wine.
The chorus rendered frantic caws and Chirps and other avian song,
Mapping out the 'mine and yours, ' and Goading more to sing along!

Quiescent water – deep of lake – Reflected out the hazy red, but
Through the glass, a flick, a break: An urgent tail from hidden bed!
And in the meadow, waking faces Calmly spread a coloured veil;
The dew disclosing spider laces – Oft with once a fly’s travail!

Dawn blushed; revealed her inner peace;  She handed on another blissful day.
Night ebbed, relenting to release of Warming blood that gives to her display.

something Old, something New, something Thrifted, something Blue

Thursday finally! Just one more day to sleeping in and keeping warm and waking up when the sun is actually up! Cannot wait.

This is the outfit I wore to work on Wednesday. I wanted to wear something, anything other than black. Sometimes I feel like black is always the most comfortable colour to wear but this seasons brights and neons trend is making want colour!

Still got an insane amount of writer block I apologise for that Smile

I spent about approximately 5 hours at work today writing and updating our staff manual so I kind of feel a bit “written” out.

Well my darling mannequin is going on Saturday morning I finally managed to sell her. Since closing my eBay shop I only use the dress form so the mannequin is going to a new place where she can be used and loved.
With the money I am thinking about going to buy a Canon 50mm prime lens on the weekend. Does anyone use the 50mm prime lens? Any pros or cons I should be aware of?

Also I am a having my very first blog hop meme tomorrow! Hope you will come and join in the fun!
Hope you are all having a great week!

Winter Solstice

Hi everyone. This is actually what I wore yesterday. I wanted to try something new and this is completely out of my comfort zone.

I have always hated my fat little white legs so showing them off isn’t something I normally like to do.
I found this denim chambray skirt at an op-shop for $2. It is actually one of my favourite op-shops at Redcliffe I like to call it the “Dust bowl”.

It was quite a long skirt so I hemmed it but didn’t do too bad or too good of a job. Sewing is something I am definitely not very good at. I will probably try to take classes once I start part time work.

Only 3 more weeks! I am totally hanging out for it. It will be great to spend more time with my family and more time on my blog and shop. Still not too enthused about going back to uni but that’s the lazy me rearing its ugly head!

Has everyone had a good week so far? I cannot wait for the weekend I am totally exhausted already!
