I love Cait’s style including her ability to sew and change things. Hope you enjoy her post and check out her blog too: Sailing to Nowhere
1) Why did you decide to become a blogger and create Sailing to Nowhere?
After I graduated I was stuck in a bit of a rut, I had casually thought about starting a blog for a while but it was never the right time. One day I started a blog on a whim and thought I would never stick with it but as soon as I started getting involved with the blogging community I was hooked! Blogging really pulled me out of a bad place and helped me regain some focus and drive :)
2) How would you describe your style?
I'm terrible at trying to pin down my style, I have tried so many looks over the years and I love so many different styles that my wardrobe is quite an mish-mash of all sorts of styles! I like to try a lot of different trends and colours but I can never resist a cute tea dress, a pair of loafers, or a nice floral pattern so you will always find plenty of these in my wardrobe.
3) What influences your sartorial style?
I've always loved 40's and 50's style, I love vintage style dresses. I like to look at trends but I'm not a slave to them. I like to really fall in love with a item and if I find I wear it a lot it will become a wardrobe staple even if the trend goes out of style. Now I have discovered the vast world of personal style bloggers out there I have found so many stylish ladies that influence my style, it is so inspiring to see different trends and styles on real women of all shapes and sizes from all over the world.
4) Do you have a favourite blogger? If so who is it and why?
The first blogger who made me want to start my own blog has to be Cait Harrington from Wayward Daughter, I love her style, it is exactly how I would like mine to be and her photographs are always so inspiring and beautiful. Also Annie from Time Enough for Drums was kind enough to help me out at the very start of my blogging journey so I am very grateful to her for all of her advice.
5) What are you favourite places to shop for your wardrobe?
I mostly shop at Topshop, Urban Outfitters and H&M and I get a lot of stuff on ebay, I am starting to try and shop at thrift stores more often but I already have so many clothes I probably should concentrate on slim-lining my wardrobe first!
6) What is your favourite outfit you have ever worn and why did you love it so much.
I'm not sure about a favourite outfit but I have certain items that I have kept hold of because of a sentimental attachment even though they don't fit anymore. I still have this summer dress I bought years ago, I bought it on a day out with my Dad and it holds lots of memories of some of my favourite family holidays.
7) Where do you expect to be in the next 12 months?
I'm hoping to be freelance writing and earning a little money from that. But I never really plan ahead too much, as long as me and my family are all happy and healthy that's good enough for me :)
