Inspiration Monday: Nail Art

I am a huge sucker for fancy nails I mean who wants plain boring ones?
I can spend up to an hour on my nails over the weekend making sure they are painted and pretty for the following week. My new fave is nail art stickers which adds automatic bling to an otherwise boring colour.
I also love crackle nail polish and can’t wait to give it a try! Sparkles, neons and mattes – you name it I have it

Enjoy everyone XX Ilana

Hi My Modern Vintage readers! My name is Kelly from Elegantly Academic
Ilana & I recently became blogging buddies & we thought it would be fun to do a guest post for each other & introduce ourselves to each others readers (we hope you don't mind).
My blog is primarily style based, but I also love to include other things I find academically and elegantly inspiring. I have given up trying to define my style as it seems to be different everyday.
I love vintage dresses & this dress is a gift from a dear friend. It was a little long so I took it up to make it look a little more modern. So I guess you could say it is a my modern vintage dress! He, he ... apologies for cheesy humour.
Thanks so much for reading my guest post & hopefully you enjoyed it. I would love for you to come say hello over at my blog.

What I Want: Jeffrey Campbell Lita Boots

I have been eyeing off these boots forever but they look terribly high to me! They have amazing reviews though and everyone I have spoken to about them raves about how comfy they are. I have decided I am going to buy myself some for Christmas I am probably going to go for the Taupe ones as they are the most versatile but here are the other styles I love too. I am a sucker for anything tapestry and how cute are the cat tapestry ones?
If I get the Taupe and like them who knows I may end up getting another pair!

On an another note I am having a HUGE SALE over at my ETSY SHOP. I am also offering my readers a further 15% off already reduced stock so get in quick it won’t last for long!

Sportsgirl Summer 2012 Lookbook: Love Story

Sportsgirl is one of my fave places to shop (when I have money!). They have the most gorgeous clothing, shoes and bags and although it is a little pricey the quality is all there.
I am totally loving their Summer 2012 Lookbook – Love Story. The clothes are so cute and feminine and scream summer to me. The clothes really have that ‘festival’ vibe which of course is huge in Australia during the warmer months.
My fave outfit is the one with the midi skirt- how gorgeous that is something I would definitely wear!
Although I rarely wear shorts I still love how these outfits have been styled and wanted to share this with my lovely readers! Enjoy

Early New Year’s Resolutions and Video Hauls

Wearing: Black chiffon dress- thrifted, burgundy tights from eBay, black loafer flats- thrifted, tan bag- Fossil, Steampunk brooch- handmade by me

Sorry for the semi-blurry photos my camera was having a spack-attack or something!

I have only recently discovered “Fashion Hauls” on YouTube and I have to admit that it looks like fun and a great way to introduce people to your blog and personal style.

As much as I totally detest video I think it is something I definitely want to start doing as of next year. I suppose it is basically a review but just speaking aloud rather than writing.

The journalism lecturers always say “Don’t fear Video”. They say it is one of the best ways a journalist can make themselves noticed and next year is definitely going to be about “getting noticed” for me.

I am still trying to convince myself not to work next year and to focus wholly on uni, work experience and journalism and getting myself a REAL job in journalism. This is my ultimate goal and probably my Number 1 New Year’s Resolution (yes I am thinking some up already)'

What New Year’s Resolutions have you come up with? I am definitely going to write a big list but usually don’t stick to them. Oh well rules are made for breaking right?

Till tomorrow

Nerds Need Love Too

Wow what an incredibly long day. Work is super busy at the moment and with the added stress of finishing up in 8 weeks it is super crazy.

I was pretty happy with my outfit today.
The weather is starting to get really warm now so not sure how much longer I will be able to get away with nylon footed tights. I just love tights so much though and they add a lovely touch to most outfits. Maybe I just need to move to a colder climate?

I don’t wear white tights often as they look best on girls with skinny chicken legs but I think the longer skirt made them look nice.

Well uni is over for the year (yay!) and work over soon (double yay!) so of course I will need to find something to fill the void between December and end of February. I am considering starting my own online magazine but not sure yet – I have some ideas in process but nothing solid.

Other than that I will probably be devoting much more time to my blog and my vintage clothing and handmade shop on Etsy. I really don’t spend much time on it and making sales becomes scarce the less time you spend on something.

Are you having a nice week?

Inspiration Monday: Man Style

                                                                                           1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

OMG I am just totally obsessed with the man-style look right now. It is very popular amongst some of my favourite celebs like Alexa Chung and Agyness Deyn and some girls like the ones above totally rock it.

Although I barely wear pants anymore since putting on weight I am hoping to wear them again soon once I go back to the gym. It would be nice to pull off this kind of look for winter.

I got myself some awesome Chelsea boots from Brands Exclusive today (original price was $179.95 they cost me just $32.99) which I can’t wait to wear with my ‘man-style’ looks.

Do you like them? This is them below- they are Mollini Pasos I can’t wait to get them!
