Interview with Kate from Scathingly Brilliant

I recently interviewed the lovey Kate Gabrielle who writes the blog Scathingly Brilliant. I love her quirky style and pink hair! Check out what she had to say!

Why did you decide to become a blogger and create Scathingly Brilliant?
I became a blogger in January 2009, when I started my classic film blog Silents and Talkies. After about a year of blogging strictly about movies, I realized I wanted to branch out and cover more topics, and that is when Scathingly Brilliant was born!

How would you describe your personal style?
Hmm... I'd say it's eccentric, retro-inspired and feminine. I like really frilly dresses, really strange offbeat clothes and anything that looks like it would have been worn in the 1960's or 1950's!

Who/What influences your sartorial style?
I'm mostly influenced by 1960's films and the TV show Clarissa Explains it All.

Do you have a favourite dress- tell us about it!
Oh my gosh, I have quite a few! It's so hard to choose! :D Probably my vintage black velvet dress, this lace dress, my sprinkled with sweetness dress from modcloth, and this one just because I made it myself! :)

How long have you been designing blogs?
About a year, I think (if you don't count designing my own blogs, which I've done for 3 years). I started out just doing it for friends for fun, and then realized I loved doing it so much I should open up a shop! :)

Tell us about your lovely etsy shop

I've been selling my drawings of my 1920's flappers, Eloise and Ramona, since April 2009. I love how much it's evolved over the years. It started with a doodle that I did on a piece of scrap paper, and now it's become my full time job... I get to do what I love all day long! Well, except taking things to the post office.. not in love with that part ;)

***also just to let you know I have extended the Joonie Beads Giveaway till tomorrow so if you haven't already entered make sure you do!

Believe it or not but Kate is the reason why I started a blog :) She really inspired me and that is how lovalafashion blogspot came along.
