Am I Too Fat or Too Old to Blog?

I was recently intrigued by an article Jen wrote over on her blog Little Bird Told Me which happens to be one of my favourite UK blogs. She touched on the "age old" topic of the when are you too old to do things which was a really great read.

She also mentioned in the post that a commenter on her blog said she was too old and fat to wear Disco Pants. I'm fairly lucky in a sense as my blog is not so popular as to attract nasty web trolls whose only purpose it to upset and cause angst. In fact since starting my blog in December 2009 I have only had 1 nasty comment which was aimed at another comment (which I happily removed!).

But this article made me think. Am I too fat and old too blog?
It really does seem like a number of "super famous popular" fashion blogs are dominated by the size 0 beautiful young girls who are given beautiful bags, shoes and clothes by designer labels. I personally do not read these blogs as I feel like the fashion (and the blogger) are too unattainable for me. Some of these bloggers work so hard at what they do but then so do many larger size, older bloggers who are not really given the time of day.

I'm a size 10-12 (AU sizes) but for most of my life I was a size 8. I always try to dress for my body type but sometimes it is fun to try a new trend regardless of what people think. For example I recently bought floral pants which I haven't featured on my blog yet. I normally wouldn't wear such flamboyant colours and print on my lower half but they are fun, trendy and I really don't care if my ass looks big in them!

It's funny as most of the blogs I read are written by bloggers even older than me (I'm 26 for reference) who have more quirky or vintage fashion tastes. Some of my favourites like Liebmarlene and Lulu Letty are written by girls who are 30 years old and are still amazingly stylish and inspirational.

I think really at the end of the day everyone, regardless of age or weight as long as you are truly happy with who you are it shouldn't matter what the world thinks. If I want to wear a little girls style dress with cute accessories whose to say I am too old for these things?

Do you ever feel like you are too old or too fat to blog (or to do other things?)

new hair!

I got a fringe and some copper red ends done over the weekend and I must admit that I totally love it! Have always wanted red hair but just been too scared.

More outfit pics up later this week just very bust at the moment

Winter Wishes: Outfit Inspiration

winter wishes

1. A Day in New York
This is my must have outfit if I ever get to visit New York City! If only I had the money for these adorable pieces! I kind of channeled Blair Waldorf for this look- what do you think?

winter wishes - snow field

2. Off to the Snow Fields
One of my ultimate dreams is to see snow in real life some day. Would love to try skiing too even though I would be utterly hopeless it would still be fun to try. If all goes well I am hoping to get to a ski lodge for a little holiday either in a few months or in winter next year!

what i wore: nina proudman inspired

Maroon basic singlet from Target/ black maxi skirt from Topshop/ button necklace and feather earrings from random shops/ denim lapel jacket by Esprit (similar)/ Red clogs by Lotta from Stockholm

Lately I have been really inspired to wear more basics with funky accessories just like my ultimate fashion inspiration – Nina Proudman, a fictional character played by Asher Keddie on the TV show Offspring. She always has the best clothes, shoes and accessories and I love the way she layers items over basics like racer back singlets or tank tops.

This is actually the outfit that inspired my outfit I just wasn’t in the mood for a printed maxi (image courtesy of channel ten)

Sometimes I feel like I spend too much energy thinking about outfits and what will work and what won’t. Wouldn't it be nice for a change to just throw on whatever and look effortlessly chic without all of the drama?

What I Wore: Red, Black & Mustard

hello friends how are you doing?

I had a fairly packed weekend with shopping on Saturday at DFO in Brisbane where I managed to get 2 tops, some floral pants :), a beaded jacket, a polka dot dress, some jewellery and 2 Oroton umbrellas all within my $250 maximum budget.

It was a great day and I haven't been shopping for awhile (except online!) so it was fun to choose things in person and not have to wait 2 weeks for the product to arrive.

I also went to the local markets on Sunday and visited the Petrie Museum. I think this place is relatively new as I have never seen it before but they have heaps of old things so I will do a proper post about it soon.

Lately I have been thinking taking part in the 30 for 30 Challenge started by Kendi from Kendi Everyday. Sometimes I feel like I am always buying new things or at least wanting new things and I really would like to appreciate what I have and make better use of it.

Has anyone taken part in this before and would anyone be willing to join me?

What I Wore: Skull print scarf

Hi everyone TGIF! I have only just started to feel like I am getting over this nasty little cold that seems ;like it wants to hand on for dear life!
This is the outfit I wore the other day. I a trying to work more accessories into my outfits especially for more basic outfits. I am not too good at accessorising but am willing to learn of course!

What are your favourite accessories and how do you wear them?

Outfit Details: Grey hi-low knit jumper from Sportsgirl (similar),  Skinny Jeans from Target, skull print scarf from eBay (similar), red flats from Jo Mercer

What I Wore: Rachel Comey Mars Boots

Well these are the rest of the photos my mum took on the weekend with my iPhone. I have to admit that iPhone photos have really come a long way and don't look half bad these days. Of course Instagram always help though!

In this outfit I am wearing my new Rachel Comey Mars Boots which are now officially the most expensive clothing item I now own. Now that they have mostly been broken in I am pretty glad I got them. I wasn't too sure at first as they are really narrow and I have medium width to wide feet but they have the softest leather and it seems to have stretched nicely.

The first few days I wore these I had to wear them with thick socks which I think helped with the breaking in period. I wore these for a few hours walking around on the weekend in these pics and had no feet issues after or the next day!

I am really hoping to incorporate more "nature" sort of photos on my blog as I love reading blogs who photograph their outfits out in nature. Makes it all the more fun too!

Playing with baby chickens

This weekend my mum was in charge of looking after some baby chickens that recently hatched so we went there to fix up their pen and give them some fresh food and water.

They were so adorable and so soft even if I was afraid they might peck me (which they didn’t!)

I finally picked one up after my mum coaxed me to do it and I was glad I did as the chick was so amazingly soft and warm sort of like a mini version of my cat lol.

Took some pretty nice outfit pics too but I will put these up later in the week.

What did you get up to this weekend?
