Happy Easter to all of my lovely readers! Hope you have a great break and get spoilt with heaps of chocolate!I am having a relaxing weekend catching up with family, eating chocolates (I know very naughty!) and finishing up some designs I am working on. What are you up to?On another note if you are following me via Google Reader please remember to swap over to Bloglovin or Google Plus as Google Reader is shutting down in a couple of months!XO Ilana
After almost 2 years of working part time I have decided to splurge this pay with heaps of new things!
This is just a sample of some of my “naughty” new purchases! I cannot wait to wear them all!
White tee - Esprit
Plaid jumper dress- thrifted
Electric blue tights – eBay
Black ballet flats – Payless shoes
Oversize white bag – Strandbags (buy it here on sale)
Steampunk necklace- handmade by me
Jumper dresses are one of those weird things that I love and hate. They are very versatile in that you can wear them alone or with different tops underneath which is always fun for remixing (see the remix I did with this jumper dress here). However I do find with this particular dress that it can make me look pretty frumpy. Could be the very high empire cut or the fact that it is just a bit boxy.
As much as I love this dress I decided to remove it from my closet the other day it is now in safe storage along with other items I am considering selling/giving away. I will be sad to see it go but perhaps you may see it sometime again in the future.
What are your favourite items to remix?
Hi friends. For all of my lovely US/UK readers I decided to create a few ways to style a Spring favourite- the midi skirt!
Hope you enjoy this post and leave me a comment if you do!
Blue floral dress by Princess Highway via eBay
Maroon tights via eBay
Grey Cardigan from Modcloth
Tan bag from Fossil
Tan loafers via Williams Shoes
I was inspired by an outfit I saw on Pinterest and this is where this outfit came from. I have to admit that this is one of my favourite outfits I have worn for awhile now. This outfit is essentially “me” all over from the vintage style floral dress to the coloured tights and tan accessories. If I could wear this outfit everyday I probably would. I can see this dress becoming my new go-to outfit.
P.S the marks on the bag are water. It was raining on this day and stupid me decided to put her bag on a wet car.
Do you have a favourite look or go-to outfit?
Nerds need love too top via Ruche
White Bag from Strandbags (similar)
Red suede flats from Jo Mercer (similar)
This top has to be one of my favourite purchases ever. I am a sucker for cute printed tees and when I saw this one on Ruche a couple of years back I just had to have it. It is getting a bit old now and needs a good soak but I still love it and hope we have at least a few more years together.
I wore this outfit to work and for some reason everyone was telling me what a nice skirt I was wearing and neglected to mention the awesome shirt. This skirt btw is really old and only recently started fitting me again so it was weird getting compliments but I will take what I can get!
These pics were actually taken a few weeks ago. For some strange reason I have managed to lose another kilo so I now hover around the 64.9 –65kg (143 pounds) mark. I am pretty proud and although this dress probably wasn’t the best way to “show off” my weight loss, I am sure you can see the difference in the photos.
Overall I lost over 16kg (35 pounds) so I am totally proud! Of course now most of my clothes no longer fit me including the said dress above. Oh well time for shopping methinks!
I recently interviewed a new favourite of mine- Elana from Room 334. Not only do we have the same name (spelt differently) we also both watch a lot of TV and have a love of cute clothes! Check out her interview below and make sure you stop by her blog and say hi!
Why did you start blogging?
I had been reading fashion blogs for years and always wanted to start one of my own, but just never found the time. I finally found myself with a lot of time on my hands last summer and figured it was the perfect opportunity. I mostly just liked the idea of meeting other people with similar interests as me, having a way to document my outfits, and thought it would be a good stepping stone for going into fashion journalism.
What styles/trends are you liking at the moment?
Lately, I've been starting to realize that I don't really pay attention to trends anymore and kind of stick to same type of items - collars, a-lines, polka dots, oxfords, etc.
What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe and why do you love it?
I talk a lot about how obsessed I am with my Modcloth Dancing Lessons dress. It's kind of unhealthy actually! It's mint perfection.
Who/what influences your personal style?
I'm sure everyone says this, but it really is other bloggers. Ever since I started blogging, I've loved being able to look at real girls on the same budget as I'm on for inspiration.
Something no-one knows about you
I used to be huge theatre nerd; I actually attended a performing arts high school for a year too.
What do you do in your spare time?
Other than blogging, I watch a LOT of TV and movies. I'm a giant pop culture buff and always either watching things or reading entertainment websites and reviews.
If you would like to be featured as my Blogger of the Month send me an email!

Black tights from eBay
Red clogs: Lotta from Stockholm
Looks like I am obsessed with red at the moment. Red hair, red dresses and red shoes! All I needed was a red bag and I was done!
I get like that sometimes obsessed with certain colours in clothes. Not long ago it was blue and slowly I am moving back to grey and blue. I also get excited about Autumn colours this time of year too.
What colour are you wearing at the moment?
Here is the round-up of my favourite outfits for March 2013. From skinny pants, to florals and summer dresses there is just so much fashion inspiration from these pics! Which one is your favourite?

Leopard print slipper flats via Target
Hi Friends! Hope you had a lovely weekend. How crazy red it my hair in these pics? I actually put in a bright copper toner it in last week hence why it looks so bright. It has mostly washed out now which is good because I do find that the red clashes with too many of my clothes.
I love these slipper flats but I hardly wear them. Considering how comfortable they look they actually hurt a fair bit, maybe because I have flat feet. I do find that really flat shoes are not good for me.
The other day I was watching TV show Girls and was inspired by something that happened. If you did watch the episode it was the part where Ray asks Marnie to be honest about what she wants to do with her life and basically to stop whining and to get out there and do it!
I was inspired because like most people I have excuses. “There’s no work in journalism so what’s the point of my degree”, is probably me biggest excuse of all. We all have them but sometimes you just need to work a little harder to get past them.
I did this with weight loss. I put all of my excuses out on the table and killed them off one-by-one. It was hard work but in the end I achieved something I never thought I would with persistence and dedication.
I guess the same applies to career and other life choices. Put your excuses out on the table and kill them off. So here are mine:
- There is no point pursuing a career with no job options (I could turn this around and say although there aren’t many opportunities in journalism, having a degree in communications can help lead to other positions in government and private sector – this is a much more positive reinforcement)
- I am too busy to study (I am VERY lazy when it comes to study. I tend to do pretty well without much effort but I know I could always do better. At the end of the day if something is important you will make time for it.)
- I am already a good writer so why bother wasting energy and effort on study. (This may be true to some extent but even someone who is amazing at something can always be learning more.)
The last thing for me isn’t an excuse. I sometimes feel overwhelmed because there are SO MANY things I want to do. I think the point of the talk Marnie and Ray had was to look deep inside and realise what you REALLY WANT. And I can honestly say I want to write. In any shape or form. It is everything to me and something I have loved since I was just a little kid.
So time to stop the EXCUSES and get real!
Hi Friends. I actually took these pics awhile ago now when my hair was still dark ha ha! Anyway today I am reviewing the Natio Pure Mineral Skin Perfecting BB Cream in medium shade. One of the reasons I wanted to do this review is because when I was searching for reviews on this product I couldn’t find many so I hope my review at least helps someone, somewhere!
Natio is an Australian company that doesn’t test on animals which is always a huge tick from me in my book.
This product cost around $15 which is the usual price for most BB creams on the market.
Here’s what it says about the product on the company website:
Pros of the product: I found this product easy to use, smells great and doesn’t feel heavy at all. It is light, goes on nicely and dries fairly quickly. Coverage is good but you do need to put a fair amount on for better coverage of flaws. Looks great used under mineral powder foundation. It does not affect my skin at all like some products do (I have fairly sensitive skin).
Cons of the product: I found it tends to make my skin oily after a few hours but then my skin is naturally oily but it doesn’t help though. Also tends to come off pretty easily too definitely not for all day coverage if you are planning on wearing it alone or with powder over the top.
Overall: I would give this product 4/5 stars. It is good for the price and I love that it is not tested on animals as most other BB creams on the market are from manufacturer's who test on animals. If you are unsure give it a try!
