Hi Friends. I would like to introduce you to Alexandra who writes the blog Into the Woods. Not only are her outfits beautiful her photography is eye-catching and breathtaking. I hope you enjoy my interview with her.
Why did you start blogging?
During the Summer of 2011 I had come to really enjoy re-purposing things. I just loved going to garage sales and finding treasures that I could fix up to be beautiful. That fall I decided that a blog was just the thing to cultivate my enjoyment for re-purposing. Plus it was an opportunity to help encourage girls in the lord while finding an affordable wardrobe alternative! Now, nearly two years later the blog has grown into a vintage personal style diary with the occasional DIY project.
What styles/trends do you like at the moment?
I love styles from the 20th century- really anything from the early 1900's through the 1990's. As far as individual trends, I simply adore peter pan collars!
What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe and why do you love it?
My favorite piece would have to be my hot air balloon print top. It was a recent find at Forever 21 and I love it! It's an easy go-to piece and the print makes it effortlessly chic.
Who/what influences your personal style?
Oh so many people! My biggest influence actually comes from my fellow bloggers. I also gain inspiration through Pinterest. If I were to choose a style icon, however, I would definitely say Audrey Hepburn. Not only for her style sense, but for the lovely, lady-like example that she set for those around her.
Something no-one knows about you
I was raised on a 3 1/2 acre ranch. Even though it was small, I still had a taste of the country. It truly was the most amazing time of my life. After facing some difficult changes we were forced to move, but I will always kindle those days in my heart.
What do you do in your spare time?
Oh so many things! I love music and playing piano. I enjoy reading ( if it is a good book) and creative writing. I sew when I can find the time. And ever so often I like to enjoy a good game of chess ( if I can find a willing opponent)! But most of all I have an overwhelming passion for portrait and wedding photography.
You can check out more of Alexandra’s pretty outfits at her blog Into the Woods.

Hi Friends. Just another casual weekend bohemian look inspired by my favourite character from TV show Offspring, Nina Proudman. Every year when Offspring comes back onto TV I get all inspired again by Nina’s favourite clothing items such as skinny jeans, kaftans, long necklaces, printed scarves and boots. To see what I mean for people who have no idea what I am talking about see here.
I am not sure if Offspring is aired overseas yet but it is a great show so I hope my friends in the US and UK will one day have access to this amazing show!
Did everyone have a nice weekend? I did but went too fast as usual…
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Desert Beige, Bare Minerals Matte Powder in Fairly Light, Studio Fix Concealer by MAC in NC15, Peachykeen Shimmer Blush by MAC, Various Mary Kay Mineral Eyeshadows, Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Taupe (on my eyebrows), Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Black, Christian Dior Overcurl Mascara in Black, Christian Dior, Dior Addict Lipstick in shade 530 (Bobo).
So I spent ages researching full coverage foundations that weren’t overly expensive. I normally wear Nude by Nature Mineral Makeup but my skin gets weird in Winter so I decided to upgrade. I chose Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation after reading and watching all the fabulous reviews on this product. My skin is far from perfect (see first pic!!) and I generally have really dark circles under my eyes.
If you are going to buy this foundation please go get a colour match done! I don’t think I would have ever chosen this colour over the internet as it looks way darker online. The girl who sold this to me tried three different colours but this one matched me best. She also gave me a trial foundation to take home and try for a week before opening the actual foundation. This was awesome as I could return the product if I didn’t like it.
I bought this for $50. It used to cost more but now it can be bought at any Estee Lauder counter in Australia for $50! A bargain as the bottle will last me ages.
I recommend using a foundation brush for best coverage. I applied this foundation with the brush then my concealer and then my mineral powder. The third photo above is with foundation, concealer and powder applied.
This foundation goes on well but dries fairly quickly so you need to work fast! When on it feels like you aren’t wearing anything! One thing I have always hated about full coverage foundation is its tendency to feel like a mask. Although this gives great coverage it feels amazing!
I wore this all day and only need to lightly touch up with some powder on my t-zone. I find my mineral makeup usually last for about 4 hours or so and then it pretty much melts away. It is nice to have perfect skin all day long!
If you are on the fence about getting this I suggest do it! Ask your Estee Lauder counter for a colour match and sample so you can try the product to make sure it suits your skin. I am so happy I got this and will give it 9/10 for coverage, 10/10 for all day power, and 10/10 for value for money. Get this!

I am weird. I like to wear summer clothes in winter and winter clothes in summer. I think maybe I was meant to live in the US lol?
Anyway this is one of my favourite maxi’s that actually still fit me. We were lucky to have a bit warmer weather last week when I wore this outfit but it is back to freezing cold again this week.
Hope everyone is doing well and I promise to get back to you all soon!

Hi Friends. Why yes that busy bee is me! I have a lot of projects going on right now so bear with me if it is taking longer to reply to comments than usual. I love all of my readers and want to respond/comment on your blogs too and promise to get around to it soon!
One of my projects is a new design for the blog. It looks bad as a designer using someone else’s design!
